Bulgarian (Balgarski) is a South Slavic language spoken by about 9 million people in Bulgaria and is the national language of that nation. Bulgarian is also spoken by small minorities in Greece, Moldova, and Romania. The language is also spoken by about 300,000 Pomaks (Islamicized Bulgarians) in Turkey.
