
Pashto (or Pushto, Pushtu) is a language spoken by Pashtuns (or Pushtuns) in Afghanistan and western Pakistan. It is one of the official languages of Afghanistan. There are three varieties of Pashto: Northern, Central, and Southern. The total number of Pashto speakers in Afghanistan and Pakistan is approximately 17 million. •See also Indo-Iranian languages.
