Romany is the language of Gypsies, who are believed to have migrated from India to Europe beginning about 1,000 years ago. The Gypsies call themselves Roma (singular: Rom). Romany is spoken anywhere in the world that Gypsies live, but principally in European countries, most heavily in eastern and southern Europe. There are several dialects of Romany, which have been heavily influenced by the local language where the speakers live. •See also Indo-Iranian languages. Ref: Ethnologue, Wikipedia
