Welsh (Cymraeg) is a language spoken in Wales and parts of Great Britain. Welsh is one of three Brythonic Celtic languages—the others being Cornish and Breton. About 20 percent of the Welsh people speak the language and about 33 percent are able to understand it. The use of Welsh had been declining in recent decades, but there ongoing efforts to revive the language. Teaching Welsh is compulsory in most schools of Wales. •See also Brythonic languages, Languages of the British Isles and Ireland. Ref: Ethnologue, Wikipedia
